보온재란 열의 방산, 흡수를 방지하기 위한 열전도율이 낮은 재료로 발전소나 석유화학 공장 등에서는 대부분의 배관을 보온재로 감싸고 있다. 이유는 하나다. 바로 열효율을 높이기 위해서다.

원자력과 화력발전소에서 보온재 중요성은 두말할 나위가 없다. 열 손실이 곧바로 효율과 직결되기 때문이다. 열효율이 낮다는 것은 같은 양의 연료를 때고도 낮은 효율을 얻고 있다는 것을 의미해 그만큼 에너지, 즉 연료를 낭비하고 있다는 것을 의미한다. 연료낭비는 곧바로 수익률과 연동된다. 이런 이유로 발전설비의 배관, 보일러, 터빈 등의 단열의 중요성이 여기에 있다.

최근 열효율은 높이면서 연료비는 절감할 수 있는 국산 토종 보온재를 생산해 오고 있는 기업이 있어 관심을 모으고 있다. 하이트린(HITLIN)이라는 토종 보온(단열)재 ‘브랜드’로 신고리원전 1·2호기 진입을 목전에 두고 있는 (주)세운T&S가 그 주인공.

지난 1984년 세운산업으로 출발한 세운T&S는 설립 이듬해인 1985년 세계에서 처음으로 E-Glass Fiber Needle Mat라는 단열흡음소재를 개발했다. E-Glass Fiber Needle Mat란 E-Glass Fiber를 얇은 슬라브 형태로 이를 적층해 결속시킨 매트형상의 단열소재를 말한다.

E-Glass Fiber를 적층해 제조한 매트는 다공질의 경량성재질을 갖고 있다. 또 유리섬유를 균일하게 교차해 Needle 펀칭해 매트형상으로 만들기 때문에 기타 다른 접착제를 사용하지 않아 유연성이 풍부하다. 특히 Needle 펀칭기를 이용한 침자방식의 기계적 공합방식을 채용, 내열도도 초자장섬유의 내열도(750℃)와 동일하며 펀칭기를 이용해 적층하기 때문에 접착제 등의 화학약제에 의한 접착방식을 쓰지 않는다.

퍼라이트 등을 소재로 사용하는 기존 단열재는 설계 및 시공시 보온 두께의 조절이 사실상 불가능하고 진동이나 흡음에 매우 취약한 것으로 알려지고 있다.

특히 작업자가 이를 시공하는 과정이 너무 불편하고 단열두께가 두꺼워 설계 및 시공시에 공간 활용이 비효율적이다.

아울러 시공후 일정기간 경과후에는 설계기준의 단열효과를 기대하기 어렵고 재사용이 불가능해 보수 작업시에는 막대한 양의 폐기물을 발생시키고 있으며 외부충격에 약해 외장재의 파손 및 단열재의 파손이 잦은 것으로 나타나고 있다.

반면 E-Glass Fiber Needle Mat를 소재로 만든 ‘하이트린’은 파이프화로 제조했기 때문에 열전도율이 낮아 기존 단열재의 70% 정도의 두께로도 단열성을 보전해 그만큼 시공비의 절감이 가능하다. 또 재시공시 원재료의 손실이 없어 단열재의 수명이 길다. 폐기시에도 부피감소로 폐기물의 비용발생이 상대적으로 적고 재활용이 가능한 소재다.

아울러 유리섬유로 만들어져 화재시 연소가 되지 않는 불연성을 갖고 있으며 인명피해의 최대원인이 되는 독성가스의 발생이 없어 안전성을 획기적으로 제고한 제품이다. 특히 표면에  알미늄박막을 덧 쒸워 내습효과가 우수하고 제조시에는 가압롤러 방식에 의해 성형, 내구성을 높였다.

2005년 신제품기술인증(NEP)으로 그 우수성을 입증받은 이필세 사장은 “지난 2004년 관련 제품을 GS에너지의 부곡복합화력발전소에 기존 퍼라이트 소재로 만든 보온재를 뜯어내고 4.8미터를 샘플시공해 테스트 한 결과 그 우수성을 입증받았다”며 “그 결과 최근 지멘스가 추진하고 있는 부곡복합화력 신규 발전설비 건설에 하이트린을 100% 적용키로 계약을 체결하고 관련 제품을 납품하고 있다”고 밝혔다.

하이트린은 10일 준공하는 태안화력 7·8호기에도 적용돼 그 우수성을 입증받고 있다. 또 보령화력 7호기에 적용돼 현재 시공중이며 8호기에도 관련 제품을 납품할 전망이다. 이밖에도 영흥화력 3·4호기와 울산화력, 영남화력 등에 적용했다.

특히 원자력발전소에는 공정분야에 지난 2002년부터 4개 발전소에서 하이트린을 보온재로 사용하고 있다.

하이트린은 그 우수한 단열성과 경제성 등으로 원자력발전소와 화력발전소는 물론 석유화학분야에서도 그 우수성을 인정받고 있다.

지난 2004년과 2005년에는 총 150㎞에 해당하는 LG석유화학의 BPA 프로젝트의 전체구역에 하이트린이 보온재로 사용됐다. 또 GS칼텍스 정유와 두산중공업은 발전분야에서 연간단가 계약을 통해 관련 제품을 사용하고 있다.

이필세 사장은 “특히 중부발전의 경우 보령 7·8호기를 건설하는 과정에서 이미 다른 제품으로 설계가 적용됐는데도 불구하고 이를 변경하면서까지 하이트린을 적용했다”며 “우리회사 제품의 우수성을 확인해 준 관계자 모두에게 감사를 전하고 싶다”고 말했다.

이 사장은 또 “하이트린의 경우 자재비는 슈퍼퍼라이트나 칼슘실리게이트를 소재로 한 기존 제품에 비해 상대적으로 높지만 시공비는 오히려 낮다”며 “자재와 시공비를 모두 포함하면 5~10% 정도 전체 비용을 절감할 수 있다”고 강조했다.

이 사장은 특히 “토종 보온재가 없다는 점에서 소재에서부터 생산·납품까지 전체 과정을 모두 국산화했다는 점에서 자부심이 높다”고 말했다.

이 사장은 그러면서 “자재비가 조금 절감된다는 점에서 100% 중국제품을 사용하는 칼슘 실리게이트 소재의 제품을 쓰고 있는 공기업이 많다”며 “여러부문에서 중국으로부터 추월을 당하고 있는데 국내 중소기업은 놔두면서 왜 중국산 제품을 쓰려는지 납득하기 어렵다”고 밝혔다.

특히 “세계 1위가 된다는 것은 개발된 기술의 업그레이드를 통해 이뤄지는 것”이라며 “대-중소기업 상생차원에서도 중소기업이 개발한 제품의 판로확대에 공공기관이 더욱 적극적으로 협력해 달라”고 당부했다.

What is the Thermal Insulation?

Thermal Insulation was made by Materials kept in low of the thermal conductivity to refrain from thermal emission and absorption, which was used in Power Plant and Refinery Oil Company as Thermal Insulation Materials.  The objective of Commented Materials is to raise the thermal efficiency.

Also I am confirming the Nuclear Power Plant & General Power Plant have to use this kinds of materials as Thermal Insulation. Which means the thermal loss is directly loss of efficiency.

E-Glass Fiber Needle Mat was made by E-Glass Fiber laminated as slice type. The Selling Point of this material mat is ultra light weigh and porous cell. As The manufacturing process is to cross the needle Punching as mat type, so it is flexible type and chemical adhesive will not need any more. When compared between Perlite and HITLIN Insulation, The Perlite is impossible to control of the thickness of Insulation when design and construction, also very poor of reduction of Noise and Absorption. After Installment Perlite, It cannot anticipate Thermal Efficiency and re-cycle used materials like HITLIN. Also when maintained, there happened a lot of industrial wastes and very easy to dilapidation from an impact.

But as HITLIN made by E-Glass Fiber Needle Mat was made in the pipe type, so insulation thickness will be reduced to 70% because thermal conductivity is very lower than other materials.

In this reason, the Actual cost of Construction & time will decrease in value. The selling points of HITLIN are to re-cycle and Life Cycle also much longer also a few industrial wastes will happened. This was made from non-flammable material ( E-Glass Fiber ) and under happened destructive burning, it will not exhaust poison fume. The surface of HITLIN was covered with ALGC(Aluminum foil with Glass Cloth) to upgrade effect durability by compressing roller process machine.

3 years ago, HITLIN received NEP(New Excellent Product) Certification, C.E.O. Lee Said , After HITLIN Quality Test From SIEMENS, HITLIN was supplied in The LNG Combined Cycle Power Plant at BuGok Industrial Complex. Through supplying this kinds of Power Projects, Se Woon T&S can sign a contract all of the Power Plants with SIEMES.

Se Woon T&S starts to supply HITLIN to Taean Thermal Power Plant and Yonghung Thermal Power Plant and Wolsan Thermal Power Plant and Yeongnam Thermal Power Plant., etc.

In specially, HITLIN has supplied in the Korea nuclear Power Plants as Section of Part Installment Pipe Line since 2002.

We can be convinced that HITLIN has best economical quality and thermal insulation by concluding a contract with Power Plant, Nuclear Power Plant and Refinery Oil Companies.

Mr Lee added HITLIN was involved in the New Project BPA in LG Petroleum Chemical Company which has constructed all pipe lines, about 150Km. Also DooSan Heavy Industry & Construction and GS Caltex has already signed Unit-Cost Contract with HITLIN.

According to KOMIPO(Korea Meddle Power Co., Ltd.), although Boryreong Thermal Power Plan Drawing has already decided another insulation product, KOMIPO want to exchange it for HITLIN owing to best quality and efficiency. Mr Lee sincerely feels to thank for all of our customers to acknowledge HITLIN.

Actually, Compared other goods such as Superlite or Calcium Silicate , The Unit Cost of HITLIN is much more higher than other things, but The Total Actual Cost of Construction is generally 5-10% much more cheaper than other things.

He is not satisfied with some Korean republic enterprises which are still looking for the poor China Insulation products owing to save material cost, actually most of Korean construction section broken from China Products , Although there are lots of Korean best quality of products in Koran now.
